Step 3: Seek Advisement, Register for Classes, and Attend Orientation

Seek Advisement

Advisors will help you with identifying courses and creating an educational plan to meet your academic goals.

Students who are new to college (no prior college credit) and are pursuing a degree are required to complete the New Student Orientation (see below) and then work with an Academic Advisor prior to enrolling in courses.

Track My Progress

image

Rio Salado College has online tools to help you track your progress in RioCompass and your Degree Progress Report in your Student Center at my.maricopa.edu. Your academic advisor can help you make a plan for your educational and career goals using these tools. For more information please see Track My Progress.

In order for your classes taken outside of Maricopa Community Colleges to appear on your Degree Progress Report (pending evaluation), you must have all your official transcripts sent directly from your institution to Rio Salado College. The evaluation process may take up to 10 business days upon receipt of your transcripts.

Prerequisite Verification Request

If your class has a requirement (prerequisite) from outside the Maricopa Community Colleges, please submit unofficial transcripts along with the Prerequisite Verification Request Form.

Note

If you already submitted your official transcript to Rio Salado College, you do not need to attach unofficials.

Register for Classes

To make the registration process easier, review the recommended course subject(s) and number(s) (e.g., ENG 101, MAT152, etc.) that you have discussed with your Academic Advisor.

How to Register for Classes

1. Go to your Student Center and log in with your MEID and password.

2. Click “Add a Class.”

3. On the Add Classes page, click “Search.”

4. Enter the subject prefix (e.g., ACC, BIO, ENG) in the Course Subject field.
