Did you know that nearly 16% of Phoenix's population lives in poverty?
Every community wants a safe place for children to play, and an assurance that its most vulnerable residents won't go to bed hungry, cold or without shelter. The United Way helps build a local safety net of core services for children, the disabled, elderly, and those experiencing unforeseen hardships. With your support, and working together with our city, schools, businesses, faith organizations and agencies, we pledge to create the fabric of a healthy, livable community.

What matters most
Every day Valley of the Sun United Way is working to address the issues that matter most in our community. They work with community partners to help individuals and families increase their self-sufficiency. When people are self-sufficient, they are able to provide for their own needs and prepare themselves and their families for future emergencies. Whether that emergency is the loss of a job or a natural disaster, we support programs that help individuals prepare themselves financially and emotionally to handle the ups and downs of life.
You help build a caring community where children and youth succeed, families are self-sufficient, neighborhoods are vital and safe, and people enjoy maximum health and independence.

Along with the Maricopa Community College District, Rio Salado College is committed to the Valley of the Sun United Way. For this reason, numerous fund-raising events occur throughout the year to assist the organization in their efforts.
