Rio Salado College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) through the Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality (PEAQ).
The College is preparing for reaffirmation of accreditation, which will consist of an Institutional Self-Study, an evaluation by a team of trained peer reviewers (with a site visit scheduled for March 5-7, 2012), and final decision-making by the Commission through three panels.
For more information on this process, see Maintaining Accreditation through the Program to Evaluate and Advance Quality.
The purpose of a Self-Study is for an institution to formally examine itself and assess its strengths and challenges in accomplishing its mission. At Rio Salado, the Self-Study Process is based on the philosophy of Relentless Improvement which has been institutionalized as one of the College's core values.
College processes are reviewed according to the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle whereby quality assurance is verified, or the need for improvement established. Appropriate actions are implemented when necessary, and the PDCA cycle is repeated so that the College is in a continuous upward spiral of review and improvement.
