Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take for my program, degree, or certificate to post on my official transcript?

Your completed program, degree, or certificate will post to your official Rio Salado College (RSC) transcript 10-15 days after your graduation application has been received.

Please note that Post Baccalaureate and Teacher-In-Residence students will receive a Recognition of Academic Achievement that will not post on their official transcripts.

How long will it take to get my diploma in the mail?

Your diploma will be mailed approximately two weeks after your degree and/or certificate has been posted to your official transcript.

Is there a deadline to apply for my program, degree, or certificate?

No, RSC processes graduation applications throughout the year. Please note, there is a deadline to participate in the commencement ceremony.

How do I know if I am ready to apply for graduation?

A RSC Academic Advisor can help you know if you have completed your program, degree, or certificate by setting up a program checksheet and academic plan for you.

Where do I send my official transcripts?

Official transcripts must be sent directly from your prior college or university (including military credit, CLEP, DANTES, etc.) to RSC’s Records Department. You can order Maricopa District transcripts through your Student Center.

Can I apply for more than one program, degree, or certificate at the same time?

Yes. Some examples include applying for an AGEC-A in addition to an AA degree or applying for a Level I certificate, a Level II certificate and an AAS degree in Addictions and Substance Use Disorders.

What is a catalog year and how do I know what mine is?

The catalog year of your program is determined from the academic year of your initial enrollment. As long as you have maintained continuous enrollment, the requirements for your program will not change from your catalog year.

I have a lot of prior college credit. How do I know if I am ready to graduate?

Regardless of how many prior college credits you have, you still must meet the requirements for a specific program. Working with an Academic Advisor is the best way to determine how your prior education and experience can apply for a degree or certificate.

How many credits must I take at RSC in order to graduate from RSC?

You must take a minimum of 12 credits at RSC in order to receive a degree or most certificates. The specific requirements can vary according to your program, so it is best to work with an Academic Advisor to ensure you have met the requirements for graduation.
