
Program Site
The Center for American Education (CAE) is located in Bangalore, India. Bangalore, in the heart of the Indian "Silicon Valley," was recently listed as one of the top ten "Up and Coming" cities in the world. India, the oldest democracy in the world, has an ancient and diverse culture going back at least 5,000 years.
Academic Program Highlights
The program is designed for students interested in participating in an Indian cultural experience. The program will focus on providing students opportunities to take courses across a broad spectrum covering areas such as Indian art, history, culture and language. The program also will provide opportunities for internships at Indian and multinational organizations. Students may choose to study Introduction to Indian History, Fundamentals of Indian Art, Indian Music, Introduction to Religions of India, Foreign Language ( Indian Languages Hindi/Sanskrit/Tamil/Kannada), Community Services/Social Work, Indian Style of Dance, Introduction to the Civilization of India, Hindu Mythology and International Business.

Eligibility
A 2.5 GPA; sophomore, junior, or senior standing.
Student Life
Students may choose from two housing options: off campus dormitories or home stay. Effective 2006, on-campus dormitory facilities will be available. Co- curricular and extra-curricular activities are currently available (field trips, cultural visits, tours, etc.). All study abroad students will provide with a city orientation tour upon arrival. It is MANDATORY to attend this tour so that students become oriented by life in Bangalore. Field trips for study abroad students will be based on courses and may include city or day tours to religious, cultural, and historical sites. Short duration (2-5 day) study tours will also be available to major sites in South India.
Costs
The cost of a semester may vary as changes occur in the economies and currencies of the U.S. and India. The factors listed below are used to calculate program costs.
- Tuition at Rio Salado College (assessed according to the student's residency status).
- Program costs in India, including instruction, housing, application and orientation fees, insurance, books and field trips.
- Transportation to India.
Financial Aid
Any financial aid for which students are eligible during the course of their study at Rio Salado College, including Pell Grants, can be used toward the cost of the program in India.
