Practicum:

In Rio Salado's Teacher in Residence program we are actively seeking to weave course content together with "real world" application through required school observations and interaction in K-12 classrooms. Therefore, most courses require a 10-30 hour practicum experience. This requirement is described in the syllabus, in Lesson 3 of each course.

Since you will have your own classroom you will be able to complete ¾ of the requirement in your own classroom but must find time to observe another certified teacher. Your administrator may be responsible for verification of completed experience. It is recommended that you contact the Field Experience office at 480-517-8121 to begin the practicum request process; however you may not begin your practicum until you have successfully completed Lesson 3 of each course.
