In Rio Salado's Teacher Education program we are actively seeking to weave course content together with "real world" application through required school observations and interaction in K-12 classrooms. Therefore, most courses require a 10-25 hour practicum experience. This requirement is described in the syllabus, in Lesson 3 of each course, and on Rio's Teacher Education website. It is recommended that you contact Rio's Field Experience Coordinator at 480-517-8117 to begin the practicum request process, however you may not begin your practicum until you have successfully completed Lesson 3 of each course (provisional or standard Elementary, Secondary or Special Education certified teachers, currently working in a classroom, do not need to set-up a practicum experience with Rio's Field Experience Coordinator, but should contact the Field Experience Coordinator with information about the school and district where they are currently teaching).
