Practicum

In Rio Salado's Teacher Prep program we are actively seeking to weave course content together with "real world" application through required school observations and interaction in K-12 classrooms. Therefore, most courses (except EDU285AA and 287AA, AC) require a 10-30 hour practicum experience. This requirement is described in the syllabus, in Lesson 3 or index page of each course, and on Rio's Teacher Prep website. It is recommended that you contact Rio's Field Experience Coordinator at 480-517-8121 to begin the practicum request process, however you may not begin your practicum until you have successfully completed Lesson 3 of each course (provisional or standard Elementary, Secondary or Special Education certified teachers, currently working in a classroom, do not need to set-up a practicum experience with Rio's Field Experience Coordinator, but should contact the Field Experience Coordinator with information about the school and district where they are currently teaching).
