- Information transmitted over a website or e-mail server may not be secure.
- Information transmitted between the counselor and the client during online counseling is not encrypted.
- Online counseling services may not be appropriate in certain situations. The counselor will refer the student to the College's in-person counseling services or to the most appropriate agency or institution.
- Information disclosed in individual counseling sessions or communications must remain confidential, unless written permission to divulge the information is given by the student. However counselors must disclose to appropriate authorities information judged to be of an emergency nature, especially when the safety of the individual or others is involved.
