Rio Salado College is dedicated to a quality learning experience. In the event an issue arises that needs our attention, we look forward to the opportunity to provide an equitable solution for all involved parties. Students are encouraged to first address their concern using Rio’s internal resolution process, Student Solution Center.  In the event additional resources are needed, students may also contact the state regulatory agency in their state; Arizona SARA Council for residents of SARA states; and Rio's accreditation body, the Higher Learning Commission.

Instructional Student Resolution Process
The process followed for instructional student complaints at Rio Salado College is in accordance with the Instructional Grievance Process outlined in the Maricopa Governance Online Policy Manual. This process is clearly articulated to students and can be located on the District website and Rio Salado College website, as well as in the College Catalog.  If you are seeking a resolution click here to complete the contact form. Non-Instructional Complaint Resolution Process
The Conduct and Community Standards Office responds to all challenges and concerns students may encounter while at Rio Salado College. Rio Salado College is an approved State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) institution.  As an approved institution, Rio Salado has reciprocity for distance education purposes with fellow SARA states.  As a SARA approved institution, Rio Salado students that live in SARA states may resolve a non-instructional complaint with the Arizona SARA Council.  Complainants must first complete the non-instructional institutional process and be finalized with Rio Salado before submission to the AZ SARA Council.  The Council does not review instructional complaints such as grade appeals or student conduct appeals.  Please visit the AZ SARA Council site for more information.

Higher Learning Commission

Students who have concerns regarding the college's compliance with the Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation, and not a specific student complaint such as understanding your tuition bill, arranging for a refund of tuition, obtaining a higher grade for a course, seeking reinstatement to an academic program, etc., may contact the Higher Learning Commission to address their concern. For assistance with non-accreditation concerns, please follow the appropriate internal resolution process detailed above.
