How does the hiring process work?
Hiring is based on student enrollment. If enrollment exceeds the number of instructors we already have teaching for us, we review the applicant database and begin scheduling interview appointments.
When is the most likely time of the year that I might be hired?
There is no particular time of the year that is better than another for hiring. Unlike traditional campus based colleges that usually begin in September and January, Rio Salado College starts new classes throughout the year.
Are official transcripts required?
Official transcripts are not required until hired. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for your application.
What training is provided for new instructors?
If the applicant is hired to teach a class, arrangements are made to complete Rio Salado’s online orientation. Additionally, arrangements are made for any departmental, in-person training, when applicable. New online instructors also receive training on the elearning system, “RioLearn.”
How do online classes work?
Rio Salado’s online courses are fully developed, including syllabus, lessons, and assessments. Students and faculty access their courses and communicate with each other through RioLearn. Rio Salado utilizes an asynchronous distance learning model where students and faculty are not required to be online at the same time.

What is the pay rate?
The current pay for adjunct faculty is $925 per load hour. A typical class, such as ENG101, is 3 load hours.
