Program Description

Rio's Puente Program is currently recruiting Latino students from select Valley high schools. The program is designed for students in their junior year interested in taking college courses online while still attending high school. Program Advantages: Introduce you to online learning options Head start on college while in high school A seamless bridge between high school and college Save money on tuition Personalized attention Individualized academic plan Ability to transfer college credits to a university All courses are funded by Rio Salado College while you are in high school (Click on the scholarship application link.) Your cohort advisor is also the instructor for the first course; AAA115 Creating College Success. How it Works

You will be enrolled in one online college course every semester (Fall, Spring, and Summer) starting in your junior year of high school. Throughout your college experience, Rio's Puente Program cohort advisor works with you to register and enroll, set up an academic plan, administer placement exams, and provide ongoing advisement. As a student in Rio's Puente Program you become a member of a cohort and through this group participate in educational opportunities, meet and socialize with peers, and become an active participant of an eLearning community.

Transfer

As a student in the Program you have everything you need to move right from high school straight to an associate degree program at Rio Salado College. Upon completion of the associate's degree you'll be ready for the career you selected or you can choose to take your education a step further by transfering and completing a bachelor's degree with one of Rio's partnering universities. Along the way you will be assisted by your cohort advisor in building an academic plan that meets your goals. If you elect to create a plan for transfer to a university, your cohort advisor will guide you as to appropriate course options for transfer.
