Class Format & Information

For your convenience, ABE, High School Equivalency (HSE)(formerly known as GED), and ELAA (also known as ESOL or ESL) classes are offered throughout Maricopa County at sites such as: community centers, churches, public schools and Rio Salado locations.

  • In-person classes
  • Books and materials are provided to use in the classroom
  • Classes are self-paced
  • Classes meet during convenient daytime and evening hours
  • Instructors work with students to identify and plan out their individual learning goals
  • Encouragement is provided throughout the program

Rio Salado classes promote effective instruction and enhanced program quality to help ensure that Maricopa County residents will have an integrated adult literacy system, which assists learners in reaching their full potential and goals as individuals, parents,community members and workers.
