High School Equivalency (HSE) online preparation classes are now open for enrollment. To register, please call 480-517-8540.
Rio Salado College's College Bridge Pathways offers in-person classes to prepare students for the HSE (high school equivalency) test. Classes are taught in English, and they prepare students in four areas:
- Social Studies
- Mathematical Reasoning
- Reasoning Through Language Arts
There is a registration fee for the in-person HSE preparation classes based on a sliding scale. For more information, please go to the Fee Guidelines.
To register for an in-person class, Rio Salado College and the Arizona Department of Education have specific eligibility requirements.
Rio Salado College: Students must present the required documentation for establishing a lawful presence in the United States and complete the "Maricopa Community Colleges Student Declaration of Citizenship or Status". Click here for a list of documents that meets this requirement.
Arizona Department of Education : Students must complete the mandated Verification of Eligibility for Services Form that lists all acceptable documents to determine eligibility to attend class. Documents are listed in three categories: Preferred, Primary, and Secondary. A Social Security card is listed as one of many secondary documents but is not required.

HSE Exam Information
The HSE test is overseen by the Arizona Department of Education. The HSE test must be taken at an official testing center. The test is computer based. To obtain information on test locations and to register to take the test, please go to www.ged.com.
Completion of an in-person HSE course of study does not guarantee that the student will pass the HSE test.
