Enroll in Rio Salado's GED Prep Classes
Rio Salado College offers free in-person preparation classes for the General Education Development (GED) high school equivalency test through our Adult Basic Education program. Classes are available to individuals who can verify they are legal residents or otherwise lawfully present in the United States. These GED classes will prepare you to pass a series of tests for the GED/high school equivalency diploma in the area of:
- Social Studies
- Language Arts (Reading & Writing)
- Science
- Math
Classes are located throughout Maricopa County and are self-paced. The GED test is given by the Arizona Department of Education.
GED Exam Requirements
Requirements to take the GED test and locations vary from state to state. The requirements provided by the Arizona Department of Education include:
You must be at least 16 years of age and have not received your high school diploma or equivalency certificate or diploma. If you are between the ages of 16 and 18 years of age, you may take the GED test but must provide:
- A notarized statement of consent to take the test signed by a parent or legal guardian.
- Verification from the last school attended that the applicant has officially withdrawn or been withdrawn.
- Two forms of identification, one of which is photo identification.

Completion of an online GED course of study does not guarantee that the student will pass the GED test. Every attempt is made to prepare students to successfully complete the test, but results are the individual's responsibility.
