Formal Application to LEVEL II

Congratulations on reaching application for student teaching and Level II Methods coursework! All students must submit the student teaching application and identify that you are either an OPTION A or B student in order to register for Level II Methods coursework.

OPTION A: (STUDENT TEACHING):

Student will complete all Rio Salado courses including student teaching then transfer to NCU to complete the last 30 credits of upper division. Students must receive a Rio Recommendation (RR) from the Education Office prior to transferring to NCU. (An RR is verification that you have completed all coursework at Rio Salado College.)

OPTION B: (STUDENT TEACHING):

Student will complete all Rio Salado courses except student teaching. Students must receive a Rio Recommendation (RR) from the Education Office prior to transferring to NCU. (An RR is verification that you have completed all coursework at Rio Salado College.) The student is responsible for submitting the attached student teaching application to their NCU Academic Advisor six (6) months prior to completion of their NCU classes. Please view available start dates for student teaching. IMPORTANT: After completion of student teaching, you will need to request a Rio Salado official transcript to be sent to NCU prior to your degree being posted and issuing of your IR.

All NCU Partnership students must meet the following requirements for admission to Level II of Rio Salado Teacher Education Methods courses:

  • Completed Student Teaching Application.
  • Complete ALL Level I courses with an overall GPA of 3.0. 
  • Submit a passing score report for the appropriate Subject Knowledge AEPA/NES exam.  Information and registration for the AEPA is available at: www.aepa.nesinc.com. Information and registration for the NES is available at: www.nestest.com/arizona .
  • Read the Student Teaching Placement requirements available in the Student Teaching FAQ’s.
  • I acknowledge I must meet the requirements listed above in order to submit my application for student teaching and to register for Level II Methods coursework

    Formal Admission Requirements:

    It is the student’s responsibility to submit the student teaching application and required forms to your designated Rio Salado College, Outreach Specialist, 2323 W. 14th Street, Tempe, Arizona 85281. All materials must be submitted as noted below. Any packet of information that is incomplete will be determined “unacceptable” and not considered as meeting requirements for acceptance or admission to Level II of the Teacher Education Programs.

      In order for the application to be considered complete, students must submit:
    1. Student Teaching Application
    2. FERPA Form
    3. Student Teaching Acknowledgement Form
    4. (CAP) Certification Admissions Plan – update CAP Form if you have made changes to your term block calendar. Refer to Step II in “Get Started” on RSC Teacher Education website for the form.
    5. Passing Subject Knowledge Exam Score(s)
