Special Education K-12 Mental Retardation (Intellectual Disabilities)

Post-Baccalaureate courses are designed for individuals who have a bachelor's degree or higher (in any area) from an accredited university and would like to become a teacher.

Students in the Special Education - Mental Retardation program are preparing to teach Special Education classes in grades K-12. This program requires 51 credits including in-person field experiences in many of the courses as well as a nine-week student teaching experience. Students must verify content proficiency through the passage of a state-approved content exam (AEPA/NES).

LEVEL I: Prerequisites: Teacher Education Program Admission Application and Certification Admission Plan (CAP) forms and Enrollment at Rio Salado required.
Must pass all EDU coursework with a grade of B or better.
