Take ACCUPLACER Placement Test or Assessment Equivalency

Rio Salado Educators Preparation programs require the ACCUPLACER test or Assessment Equivalency. The Accuplacer is a computer adaptive test used to assess skills in reading, English and mathematics. Student should allow approximately three to four hours to complete the exams. A current photo ID is required before you will be admitted to test. If you reside outside of Maricopa County please refer to the proctoring process under testing for both assessments.

Proctor Exam

Educators Preparation students must advise the testing center personnel that they are pursuing the Teacher Educator Program to ensure the correct tests are provided. WritePlacer, Sentence Skills, Reading, Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra.

ACCUPLACER scores may not be utilized if they are older than five (5) years from the initial date of testing. The Accuplacer Exam may be taken three times to reach the required passing Educator Preparation Program scores. If passing scores are not achieved, then the student must enroll in the appropriate class and pass with a “C” or better before being formally admitted to the program. Applicants who have complete a master’s degree in their approved content area or who have completed and passed the appropriate Subject Knowledge assessment may choose to waive four sections of the Accuplacer Exam and must only complete the WritePlacer assessment with a minimum score of 5.
