Reading Endorsement 6-12 grades

Student Information

Reading Endorsement courses are designed for currently certified Education teachers. Teachers can add the Reading Endorsement to their current teaching certificate by taking the following Rio Salado College courses.

Arizona Department of Education Requirements

  • A valid Arizona Elementary, Secondary or Special Education certificate.
  • Three years of full-time teaching experience (Coursework may be taken during the three years of work experience).

  • Must call Rio Salado College to register for Endorsement courses at 480-517-8580.
  • Must provide proof of a bachelor's degree or teaching certificate before registering.

Option A

Below are Rio Salado courses that meet the requirements for Option A.

* Indicates course has prerequisites and/or corequisites. Formal Application required 3 classes prior to enrolling in the Field Experience.

Option B

*Please note:  In order to be eligible for Option B you must have a School District support your Field Experience.  All students must take and pass the Arizona Educator Exam AEPA and submit the Reading Endorsement Internship Application for acceptance.
  1. A passing score on the Reading Endorsement Subject Knowledge portion (46) of the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment (AEPA) or NES for grades 6 – 12.
  2. Supervised field experience or practicum in reading 6-12 grades
