Dramatic Arts Education

The Teacher in Residence program allows students who already hold a bachelor's degree to receive employment in a classroom while simultaneously completing their education coursework toward certification.

Students in the Dramatic Arts Education program are preparing to teach grades K-12. This program requires 24-30* credits including in-person field experience work in both elementary and secondary teaching methods as well as 12 credits of fulltime student teaching.  Students must verify content proficiency through the passage of a content knowledge exam (AEPA/NES).

If outside of Maricopa County - check to Arizona Department of Education (ADE) for $60 per content area + $60 for provisional SEI. Student
Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card* Student
Formal admissions packet to Rio Salado, including transcripts** showing a minimum 3.0 GPA. Student

Completion of 50% of program coursework with a minimum 3.0 GPA including transfer credits. Student
If not already completed, register for Elementary or Secondary Professional Knowledge portion of AEPA/NES.  Passing scores to Rio prior to end of Year 2. Student
