Teacher-In-Residence Admissions Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. Two Official Transcripts will be required for Formal Admissions.
  • Passing results from the AEPA (Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment) in the content area for which you are being hired.
  • Completion of approved Structured English Immersion (SEI) coursework or workshop.
  • Arizona Department of Education application for “Intern Certificate” cost is $60.00 per content area (including adding Middle Grade content to Elementary or any Secondary content area). Also $60.00 for the Provisional SEI endorsement unless a previously issued certificate already indicates a Provisional or Full SEI endorsement.
  • Completion of two letters of character reference.
  • Fingerprint clearance.
  • Acceptable TOEFL score, if English is not your native language or if determined by Department Chair to be necessary.
  • All Rio EDU courses must be met with a "B" or better with an overall GPA of 3.0.
