Course Observations

In various courses offered by the ECEHD Department, students may conduct observations and complete internships to gain experience and perspective in the human development field. Observations in human development settings provide students with the opportunity to apply the strategies and tools acquired during program coursework in real-world settings.

Student Code of Conduct

In various courses offered by the ECEHD Department, students may conduct observations and complete internships to gain experience and perspective in the early childhood and human development field. While taking courses at Rio Salado College, students are representatives of the college, and thus, are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner during observations visits.

Internships

Every certificate or degree offered by Rio Salado’s Human Development Program requires students to participate in an internship.  An internship is the opportunity for students to practice the skills they have learned or gain new skills from those experienced in the field of human development field.  By placing students in an environment specific to their certificate or degree path, they have the opportunity to observe directly and work hands-on with experts in the field. This enhances professional experiences and knowledge. The students may also learn a variety of techniques and strategies that are used in the workplace to interact with various age groups, learning abilities, and job functions.
