Sustainability and Ecological Literacy

Sustainable and green practices are a growing concern in today’s world. Specifically, how does a society meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs?

That is the basis of the academic certificate in sustainability and ecological literacy. Students will gain an understanding of sustainable living practices, and the skills necessary to become ecologically and environmentally aware. Specific courses include Environmental Ethics, Geological Disasters and the Environment, the Economics of Natural Resources and World Philosophy.

Careers in Sustainability

As human consumption of resources continues, green living becomes an increasingly important global concept. With an understanding of sustainability and environmental awareness, students trained in this area can work in a variety of fields such as industry, consultancy, utilities, regulatory agencies and non-profits, as well as local, state and federal governments.
