Students: Message Center Highlights


Welcome to the Message Center

Beginning July 1, communication in RioLearn between students and instructors will be done through the Message Center. The Message Center is a new tool that centralizes all course-specific communication. Previously, students communicated with instructors through email. (You will still have a link to your Gmail student email account in RioLearn, and will continue to receive official college communications there.) Using the new Message Center makes it easy to streamline all your messages and communicate with your instructor.

  1. Click the new "Messages" icon to go to the Message Center Inbox.

Message Center Inbox

  1. This is the Message Center action bar.
  2. Messages can be filtered by read/unread and classes.
  3. Messages can be sorted by "Sender" "Subject" "Class" and "Date."
  4. Messages from instructors are displayed here.

Compose and Send Messages

  1. Click "Compose New" to send a message.
  2. Choose your class from the drop down menu.
  3. Choose your instructor's name from the list of available recipients.
  4. Click right arrow to select instructor and move to "Selected Recipients."
  5. Upload attachments if applicable.
  6. Type subject line and your message. Click "Send Message" when finished.

Read and Reply to Messages

  1. From the Message Center Inbox, highlight a message and click to open.


  1. Message options include Delete, Reply and Forward.
  2. Click "Reply" to reply to the message.


  1. Compose your message and click "Send Message."

Contacting your Instructor

There are three ways to contact your instructor:

  1. Click the "Messages" icon to contact your instructor from the Message Center Inbox.


  1. (A) On the RioLearn homepage, find your class under "Current Classes" and click "Quick Look."
    (B) The screen will then show your class details. Click the instructor's name to send message.
