Rio Salado College is proud to be a neighborhood sponsor to this wonderful school. Scales Elementary is a dynamic learning community in which all people excel physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially in order to become active and productive citizens. The school opened in 1969 and is named for Lucille and Eddie Scales, the first husband and wife team to work for Tempe Elementary schools.

Scales Elementary is recognized as an 'A+ School' for its innovative programs and support services for students and their families. The staff utilizes teaching strategies that increase academic achievement for all students in the learning community. By focusing on teaching for enduring understanding, each child develops the skills necessary for life long learning. The success of the school is based on the value placed on family involvement by encouraging parents to assist in classrooms, volunteer for PTA activities, and serve on Scale's Site Council. The Breakfast Club meets twice monthly on Mondays or Fridays and is open to all students and their families.
