When do I receive my aid?

Disbursement of financial aid starts at the beginning of each semester. If you are a first time borrower at Rio Salado College, you are required to complete a Loan Entrance Counseling before your loan will be awarded. First-time borrowers must wait 30 days between the start of the semester and the time the loan will be disbursed. You may check your award online.

How do I receive it?

NEW STUDENTS TO RIO: Students with no prior academic history with Rio will have financial aid funds disbursed after the date for a full refund has passed.

NOTICE TO CONTINUING STUDENTS: Effective 5/8/06 (Summer I 2006) No federal financial aid funds will be disbursed until grades are posted for the prior term, and, academic progress can be verified. Financial Aid students will be held in classes with tuition and fees deferred until that time. Students may request a book deferment.

You must inform the Financial Aid Office if there are any changes regarding your address on record. For additional information, contact the Financial Aid Office at 480-517-8310.

How do I cancel loans?

If your loan has not been disbursed, you may cancel it by dropping by the Financial Aid Office and completing a revision request or calling 480-517-8310.

If your loan was disbursed via check and you have not cashed it, you will need to bring the check to Rio Salado College's Cashier Services where your disbursement check will be voided.

You will be unable to receive any other funds (i.e., Pell Grant, etc.) that may be on that check while your request is being processed. You will receive a updated Financial Aid Award Notification Letter once this process has been completed.

In order for your loan to be cancelled, the Financial Aid Office will need to remove the loan from the Rio Salado College system. The origination fees and any interest will be cancelled as well. You will receive a Financial Aid Award Notification Letter once this process has been completed. The revision to your aid will generally take 7-10 business days.

If funds have been disbursed and checks cashed, contact your lender to make repayment and contact our office.
