Loan Counseling

Not only is loan counseling required, but it is also important because it provides pertinent information about repayment of student loans. Loan entrance and exit counseling information must be provided to students who borrow education loans through the Federal Family Education Loan Program.

Entrance Counseling

Any student who chooses to borrow a Federal Family Education Loan for the first time at Rio Salado College must complete a loan counseling session before the loan application will be processed. Per federal requirements, loan funds will be released in at least two installments within the loan period. You may refer to the form titled "Federal Stafford/Parent Loan General Policies and Procedures," or contact the Financial Aid office at (480) 517-8310.

Exit Counseling

Students are obligated to complete a loan exit counseling session just prior to graduation or dropping to less than half-time enrollment status. Exit counseling provides pertinent information about loan repayment and debt management strategies.

Manage Your Loans

To use “manage your loans” a student must have completed the Master Promissory Note and have information for the username and password to view information. Also, the student will not be able to log into this site until he/she has had at least one disbursement. This site will allow a student to print deferment and/or forbearance forms, print tax form for loan interest; view past payments and make payments on loans; and view all Sallie Mae loan history. Students can also update their address and contact information.
