Glendale resident Tamara Sanford graduated from college and high school in the same month. Tamara accelerated her college studies by taking online courses and completing all her coursework in just two semesters. She plans to continue her studies this summer at Brigham Young University, where she will study broadcast journalism.
Matty Zaragoza (pictured left) and Lydia Ghebrehiwot (right) are examples of a growing trend for Rio Salado to enroll more students with international backgrounds. Both completed Rio Salado's accelerated Dental Hygiene program and received Associate in Applied Science degrees. They are both proud to say they are the first in their families to graduate from college!
For some, achieving a college education is a lifelong dream, but for Sharon Riberdy it was a lifetime of dreams. Sharon, age 60, dropped out of high school at 15 with almost no ability to read or write. Now she's a graduate of Rio Salado with an Associate of General Studies.
Mark Dingman took an 18-year break from school, but this month he achieved his dream of graduating college. While working as a signalman for Union Pacific Railroad, he began taking online courses through Rio Salado College and was accepted into the PTK International Honors Society. Since graduation, he's kept the momentum going and is already enrolled at NAU working toward his bachelor’s degree.
