When a website attempts to launch a pop-up, Pop-up Guard checks your preferences, and then blocks or allows the ad accordingly. With Pop-up Guard, you can:

  • Choose a filter:
    Exclusive blocks most pop-ups
    Filter displays select pop-ups
    Off allows all pop-ups to be shown.
  • Choose how (or if) you are notified every time a pop-up is blocked.
  • Create a personal list of websites where pop-ups are always allowed.

How MSN Pop-up Guard works

The first time you visit a website with pop-ups, a Pop-up Guard message appears, letting you know it's on the job keeping pop-ups away. Pop-up Guard is set to Filter mode by default. You can customize your Pop-up Guard settings at any time.

To change Pop-up Guard settings

  1. Click the Pop-up Guard icon on the Address bar.
  2. From the menu, click Pop-up Guard Settings.
  3. Select Filter settings, Notifications, or Pop-up allow list, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

Choose from the following Pop-up Guard filter settings:

  • Use Exclusive to block most pop-ups. Pop-ups from sites on your allow list are not blocked.
    (Note that choosing this setting may block some pop-ups that you do want to see.)
  • Pick Filter to display only pop-ups associated with sites on your allow list as well as pop-ups that Pop-up Guard determines you want to see.
  • Choose Off to turn off Pop-up Guard and allow all pop-ups for all Web sites to be shown.

Pop-up Guard Allow List

To ensure Pop-up Guard is set to allow all addresses from Rio Salado College, follow the instructions below to add our web sites to the allow list..

To allow all of the pop-ups associated with a website

  1. Click the Pop-up Guard icon.
  2. Click Pop-up Guard Settings.
  3. Click Pop-up allow list.
  4. Type the following web addresses to allow pop-ups from Rio Salado then click Add after each entry.
    maricopa.edu
    riosalado.edu

To add the page currently displayed to your allow list, click the Pop-up Guard icon, and then click Allow Pop-ups For This Site.

Tips:

  • To see pop-ups associated with a specific web page, press and hold the ALT key while that web page is loading. Pop-up Guard remains on for all other web pages until you turn it off.
  • To see the last pop-up blocked by Pop-up Guard, click the Pop-up Guard icon, and then click Show Last Pop-up.
