Test Taking Strategies
General Information

Reading, Writing, and Math assessments are necessary to satisfy the State of Arizona requirements for paraprofessionals. Completion of the Observation Inventory is not required by the State of Arizona but is necessary to receive the certificate.

Once a paraprofessional has registered to take WorkKeys, he/she has 90 days to complete the three components of the WorkKeys package. Components of a package cannot be shared by multiple people.

The three assessments are computer based and scores are available instantly upon submission of the tests. An official report is available within 24 hours. Reports are available for up to 30 days from the date of testing.

ACT recommends that users do not take the same test more than two times within 30 days. There is no limit to the number of times the assessment can be taken.

Who -
The WorkKeys assessments are only administered to students enrolled in classes at Rio Salado College.

When -
Monday through Thursday - 8 AM to 9 PM, and Friday 8 AM to 6 PM

Study Guides -
Study guides are only available through KeyTrain and Worldwide Interactive Network curriculum publishers. The approximate cost of the CD-ROM version is $50. The paper versions are priced individually, by competency level, within each subject area and cost approximately $10 each. Refer to the following information for exact prices and ordering processes:

Instructional Support Inventory
The Instructional Support Inventory Request form can be filled out in the Testing Center after completion of the three assessments. The form may also be completed and returned to the Testing Center via fax or mail. Qualified observers for the Inventory include principals, assistant principals, or teachers.

What to Expect at the Testing Center

Materials Supplied by User
  • Calculator for Applied Mathematics (basic four-function)
  • Social Security number
  • Current, valid, photo I.D
  • Confirmation of WorkKeys Registration Submitted form
  • VISA or MasterCard, or a money order
Materials Supplied by the Testing Site
  • Scratch paper and pencil
  • Calculators, if users cannot supply their own
Electronic Devices
Pagers, cell phones, and/or wristwatch alarms must be turned off and secured in lockers during testing
