Start Pre-Financial Planning

Under Arizona State law ARS:41-611, students using VA educational benefits are eligible for deferred payment of tuition and fees. This benefit eliminates the need for students to pay up-front while waiting for payment from the VA. Payment will be deferred for up to 120 days after the start date of your first course. Please note, however, that all balances for prior semesters must be paid prior to enrollment in a future semester.

In order to begin using your VA educational benefits you must first apply for your benefit. Once your application has been processed, the VA will send you a personalized Certificate of Eligibility.

VA benefits include a variety of educational programs. If you are receiving the CH33 Post-9/11 GI Bill®, tuition and fees will be paid directly to Rio Salado College by the VA. The amount paid to the college will be based on the eligibility percentage assigned to you by the VA in your Certificate of Eligibility. If you receive an eligibility less than 100%, you are responsible for the remaining balance of your tuition and fees.

All other VA educational programs will award a monthly stipend based on your total enrollment status (i.e. full-time, ¾ status, part-time, etc). Your first check will be sent to you approximately 3 to 7 weeks after your course has started.

Consider all your options when planning how to pay for your Rio Salado classes.

Payment Plan or Pay in Full (Self Pay)

Only the CH33 Post-9/11 GI Bill® pays the school for costs of tuition and fees. If you are receiving another benefit, you will be responsible for paying your balance. The payment plan allows you to make payments in installments over the course of a semester. Students can also pay in full prior to the start of the semester.

Military and Veteran Benefits

You may be eligible to receive active-duty military tuition assistance while using your VA education benefit. For more information about tuition assistance please call military advisement at 480-517-8590.

Third-party Billing

Payments are made by an employer or other sponsoring agency. If you are receiving CH33 Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits and receive payment from a third party, the VA will not pay tuition and fees. For more information about Third Party Billing, please call 480-517-8330.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available for students who qualify. In order to apply for financial aid, you must:
