The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Law Enforcement Training Academy is designed for students wishing to pursue a career as a law enforcement officer. The student will develop skills in eight functional areas: Introduction to Law Enforcement, Law and Legal Matters, Patrol Procedures, Traffic Control, Crime Scene Management, Community and Police Relations, Report Writing, and Police Proficiency Skills. At the conclusion of this program the student will have completed all requirements of the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AzPOST) Board standards established to certify police officers in the State of Arizona.

This program is not eligible for Title IV Federal Financial Aid.
Students must earn a grade of C or better for all courses required within the program.
This Certificate of Completion (CCL) is offered as an educational partnership at Rio Salado College. Students are advised to meet with the program director, chair and/or faculty advisor. This Certificate of Completion is offered as a closed academy program at Chandler Gilbert Community College and Glendale Community College. Students at these colleges are advised to meet with the program director, chair and/or faculty advisor.

This pathway map will help you gain the expertise needed to:
- Demonstrate the police proficiency skills that meet the standards set forth by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board.
- Apply the principles and processes of law and legal matters to policing.
- Practice professional standards of policing.
- Apply principles of patrol procedures to maintain best practices of contemporary policing.
- Synthesize relevant sources of information to prepare comprehensive police reports.
- Communicate orally, visually and in writing precisely, appropriately, and effectively to varied audiences.
- Engage in appropriate interactions with a culturally and socially diverse population.
- Collaborate with diverse groups to establish shared vision and effective relationships.
- Demonstrate proficiency in conducting practical investigations in traffic collisions, traffic direction, and impaired driver cases.
- Apply principles of law and best practices to criminal investigations and crime scene management.
- Apply aspects of mental and physical conditioning for personal safety in law enforcement activities.

Must meet AzPOST minimum requirements for a law enforcement officer and meet any physical requirements by the Academy Director.
The following is the suggested course sequence by term. Please keep in mind:
- Students should meet with an academic advisor to develop an individual education plan that meets their academic and career goals. Use the Pathway Planner tool in your Student Center to manage your plan.
- The course sequence is laid out by suggested term and may be affected when students enter the program at different times of the year.
- Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and/or completion of 100-200 level course and/or program requirements.
- Degree and transfer seeking students may be required to successfully complete a MCCCD First Year Experience Course (FYE) within the first two semesters at a MCCCD College. Courses include AAA/CPD150, AAA/CPD150AC, CPD104, and AAA115/CPD115. Course offerings will vary by college. See an academic, program, or faculty advisor for details.
