Commencement speaker and Phi Theta Kappa member, Ashanti Ruiz shared her thoughts on what commencement means to her.
“Commencement to me is about celebrating my accomplishments with others that have helped me succeed along the way. I am very grateful for everyone I have met at Rio Salado and they have played such a huge role in my life, especially Phi Theta Kappa. It is also a time where I have reflected on my hardships and how I have overcome them. Many students like myself have overcome sleepless nights, difficult homework, or valuable life lessons along the way while continuing to pursue an education. It is a celebration that is bittersweet because I know that I am so sad to leave Rio Salado because I have considered it my second home for so long. However, I am confident that they have prepared me for my new journey at ASU. I have recently been admitted to Barrett the Honors College where I will pursue Psychology and finish a thesis during my undergrad. Again, this isn't the end of my journey but the beginning of something new and exciting.”
We would like to invite you to join us during virtual commencement May 28, 2020 5:30 – 7 p.m.
