Rio's Hazel Davis Receives Emeritus Distinction
Hazel Davis, a longtime Faculty Chair at Rio Salado, was approved for Faculty Emeritus status during the Oct. 27 MCCCD Governing Board meeting. Davis retired in August 2020 after an exceptional 23-year career as Faculty Chair of Library Services. During her career, the library program grew from a department of one to a thriving brick-and-mortar and online department that provides a number of services to Rio Salado’s students. In addition, Davis’ tenure included exemplary service to the college as Faculty Senate President, Assessment Team Chair and Accreditation Faculty Chair.
The district is still determining how Hazel and other Emeritus awardees will be formally recognized during the current pandemic. The Emeritus application for Hazel, which details many of her significant contributions to the college and district, can be found here.
