Rio Salado College is now accepting applications for the Fall 2023!

Application deadline for the Fall 2023 is September 5, 2023.

All application materials must be submitted and completed by September 5, 2023 (i.e., passage of NES Subject Knowledge exam, official transcripts, letters of recommendation, Employment Verification and Star Teacher Assessment, must all be received and processed).
Teacher candidates admitted to the TIR program must be prepared to pay or establish a payment plan with Rio Student Business Services (regardless of scholarship and financial aid status), upon acceptance to the program and prior to the established Fall course start date.

All incomplete applications will be placed on hold and considered for the Spring 2024 semester.

Register to attend a virtual Teacher In Residence Orientation.
Admittance into the TIR program requires applicants to complete an application to Maricopa Community Colleges (Rio Salado College) AND a TIR program application. Students should wait at least 24 hours from completing the Maricopa application before accessing the TIR Program application
Teacher In Residence applications for the Fall 2023 semester will not be processed until June 14, 2023.

Admission Requirements

Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. Official transcripts are required for Formal Admission.
Passing results from the AEPA (Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment)/NES (National Evaluation Series) in the content area for which you are being hired. An AEPA/NES content area exam is not required for K-12 Special Education program admission. A middle grade AEPA/NES content area exam is not an acceptable exam for applicants applying to the Teacher in Residence program.
Submitting an Arizona Department of Education application for “Alternative Teaching Certificate” cost is $60 per content area (including adding Middle Grade content to any Secondary content area).
Completion of two letters of recommendation.

All Rio Salado College EDU courses must meet an overall GPA of 3.0 to move from semester to semester. Courses transferred into the TIR program count towards this calculation. Courses with a "D" or "F" must be retaken regardless of GPA.
Employment verification from an approved Arizona school district, public charter or private school.
Biographical Information
Complete the Star Teacher Assessment: After submitting your online application to Rio Salado College’s Post Baccalaureate Teacher Certification program (Traditional or Teacher in Residence), applicants will receive an email from forms@riosalado.edu confirming that the application has been received. Inside this email will be a link to register for and complete the Star Teacher assessment. There are no additional costs to complete the assessment. This assessment must be completed prior to acceptance into the program and will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
