Join us for a discussion of Shards of Silence, the first young adult novel by award-winning author Brian Lee Young (Diné).
The novel follows Derrick, a Navajo teen attending an elite East Coast boarding school, as a school project leads him to uncover his family’s history and his great-grandmother’s experience in federal Native boarding schools. Through Derrick’s journey, the story explores identity, generational trauma, healing and the importance of preserving and carrying family stories forward.
