Military Advisement

Military and Veteran Academic Advisement supports all military service members, spouses, dependents, and veteran students by:

  • Advising students on Rio Salado programs, policies and procedures
  • Evaluating all unofficial transcripts & official military transcripts
  • Creating check sheet/education plan in Rio Compass
  • Creating student agreement forms for active duty students and spouses using DOD Tuition Assistance & MyCAA (Military Spouse Scholarship)
  • Coordinating with Veteran Services to assist students with VA enrollment certification requirements

Veterans Services

The Rio Salado Veterans Services department is committed to assist students with navigating the required steps to utilize their VA education benefits towards an eligible program of study.

  • Advise students on MCCCD and Rio Salado policies and procedures required for enrollment
  • Educate students on how to effectively use their VA education benefits and manage/resolve payment coverage for courses
  • Certify enrollments to the VA for eligible VA education benefits
  • Provide campus & community resources to students in need of assistance with advising, tutoring, testing, counseling, and other life challenges outside of school
