Educator Preparation Programs
You have a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university and want full-time classroom employment while completing education coursework for certification.
Certification - Licensure Disclosure
The post baccalaureate educator preparation programs and the bachelor’s degree educator preparation pathway are designed to meet the coursework academic requirements for a certified educator in the State of Arizona.
The Rio Salado Educator Preparation Program Post Baccalaureate Teacher in Residence program MUST be completed in Arizona with initial licensure in Arizona.
Rio Salado College is no longer admitting out of state students into the Post Baccalaureate Traditional program. New students admitted into the Post Baccalaureate Traditional program MUST complete the program in Arizona with initial licensure in Arizona.
For current students in the Rio Salado Post Baccalaureate Traditional program seeking certification or licensure in a state other than Arizona, the Rio Salado Post Baccalaureate Traditional program DOES NOT meet academic requirements for initial teacher certification in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Rio Salado has not determined if its program meets or does not meet the educational requirements for Missouri and Vermont. Students may seek initial certification in Arizona and then be eligible for reciprocity in other states, except for Kentucky. If you are initially certifying through Arizona, you may be eligible for reciprocity in your home state. A listing of specific contacts for licensure or certification Boards is attached.
Students in Delaware and Kentucky should not enroll in the Post Baccalaureate Traditional program at Rio Salado College because Rio Salado College does not have state approval in those states.
Please contact the licensure or certification Boards from your state for more information.
Rio Salado College is proud to be the host college for The National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs (NACCTEP).
