Springtime is around the corner, which means it’s time once again for our annual Dash with Splash run! Each year the Rio community comes together to lace up our running shoes and hit the race track for a good cause. Dash with Splash is a charity event to support the Rio Salado College Greatest Need Fund. This fund supports programs, projects, activities, scholarships, and initiatives that help uplift our students. The 6th annual Dash with Splash is set for the morning of Saturday, April 6, 2024.
We’re moving to a new venue for this year’s Dash: Kiwanis Park! Located in Tempe, this lush green park and lake has plenty of shade and visual splendor to help make this year’s run the most pleasant one yet. Like past events, there will be multiple tiers for racing: a 10K, 5K, and 1 mile fun run. All ages and ability levels are welcome! If you can’t make it in person to Kiwanis Park, there is a virtual component (check below for more details).
There is a registration fee for entering the race, but there are special early bird rates! The next one ends Jan. 31.
What to Expect on the Day of the Dash
Race day registration will be available at 6:30 a.m. at Kiwanis Park. The 10K race kicks off at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 5K starting at 7:45 a.m. and the 1M fun run at 8 a.m. All races should be wrapped up by 8:45 when we will host an awards ceremony. Wheelchairs, strollers, and wagons are more than welcome for the event! Roller blades, skateboards, and/or motorized devices will not be allowed on the run or walk courses.
Dash with Splash is leashed pet and walker friendly. If you’re bringing a furry friend, please bring bags to clean-up any pet waste. Let’s leave Kiwanis looking as good as it did before we got there.
What You’ll Get
In addition to getting a good cardio workout in and sharing in the camaraderie of racing with members of the Rio community, runners can look forward to receiving custom event shirts and medals. We'll also be providing a runner's snack bar before and after the race where we'll be serving up water, Gatorade, granola bars, and fruit. There will also be age group awards for the top three races in all age groups for the 10K and 5K runs.

Can’t Make it to Kiwanis Park?
You don’t have to join us on site to take part in Dash with Splash! You can join in the pulse-racing fun by signing up for our virtual run. A virtual race is a race that can be run at any location. Whether you’re in Arizona or abroad, you can hit the pavement, dirt, or a treadmill and contribute your steps to the cause. Run at your own pace wherever you like! All virtual runners will receive a custom event finisher’s medal and a custom event t-shirt.
