Arciniega brings a thoughtful and passionate perspective to student leadership, informed by her own academic journey and life experience. As the youngest of 10 siblings, Lucero learned early on how to adapt and thrive in different social settings— developing a unique balance of introspection and approachability.
"As the youngest of ten, I've learned to navigate various social dynamics, making me adaptable as both an introvert and an extrovert," she said.
She is pursuing a degree in anthropology and has a growing interest in archaeology, driven by a desire to understand and preserve human history. Arciniega chose Rio for its online learning opportunities, which offer the flexibility she needs as a full-time worker in the nonprofit world. She appreciates the Rio community, whose support inspires her to continue growing personally and academically.
Her college experience transformed for the better when she started getting involved in opportunities Rio Salado has to offer. Arciniega is a member of Rio Salado-based East Valley Rotaract, an Adult ACE program completer, one of the first Rio Democracy Fellows, and a 2024 Intercollegiate Student Leadership Experience (ISLE) participant. She said each of these experiences are enriching and transformative. They not only helped her grow socially but also boosted her academic motivation and progress.
"I aspire to engage deeply with my academic community, collaborating to expand my knowledge and develop practical skills," she said. "Ultimately, I want to emerge as a well-rounded, intellectually curious individual ready to make a positive impact."
She’s passionate about helping other students discover these same opportunities so they can thrive, succeed, and feel more connected to the Rio community.
"Leadership is vital to me because it's about empowering people to reach their full potential, fostering positive environments where everyone feels valued, and guiding teams through challenges," she said. "Effective leaders set clear visions and inspire collaboration. Ultimately, it's also a journey of continuous personal growth that pushes me to be better."
In her role as Student Senator, Arciniega plans to be an advocate for students’ voices— working closely with college leadership to improve online learning experiences, increase student engagement, and ensure that all students feel seen, heard, and supported. She sees leadership as a path to service, personal growth, and collective empowerment.
When not studying, Arciniega is an avid reader, music lover, and someone who deeply values connection. We’re excited to have her as a bridge between students and staff and look forward to the insights she’ll bring to the coming year.
"I'm committed to fostering a vibrant online community where every student feels heard and valued, ensuring your time here is as rewarding as possible," she said.
