What began with heart, hope, and hard work came to life on February 20, 2025, when East Valley Rotaract at Rio Salado College officially launched. But that day was just the beginning. After months of planning, outreach, and unwavering dedication, the club marked a major milestone on July 31, 2025, as it became a formally chartered Rotaract chapter and celebrated its inaugural induction ceremony. In a heartfelt and joy-filled event, 18 students and community members were inducted, pledging to uphold the values of fellowship, integrity, service, and leadership. The newly elected leadership board— five inspiring Rio students— also stepped into their roles with confidence and pride. The event brought together Rotarians, students, and supporters, and was filled with hugs, laughter, and a few tears, as attendees celebrated how far the club had come and dreamed of where it could go.
The evening wasn’t just a ceremony— it was a powerful reminder of the impact of community. Guests noted how elegant and meaningful the event was, and many shared how deeply they felt valued and supported by Rio Salado. New connections were made, ideas were shared, and a strong sense of purpose filled the room. Perhaps the most moving part of the night was seeing the bond already formed among members and officers— friends who have served together, grown together, and already made a difference. With the support of three sponsoring Rotary clubs and a membership full of passion and promise, the East Valley Rotaract is not just off to a strong start— it’s quickly becoming a force for good - locally, nationally, and globally.
A big shoutout to Vice President David O’Shea for being a constant supporter and champion of this work. Huge thanks to Club Advisor Amber Johnson, whose dedication and leadership made this club what it is today and to Club President Goldie Johnson-Pompey for moving us forward with vision and purpose. I can’t wait to see what the future brings with such incredible leaders at the helm!
