Rio Salado College’s leadership recently announced the launch of a new strategic plan called, Excellence in Education for a Better World. In these times of rapidly accelerating social and technological shifts, a bold vision is needed to anticipate and adapt to how these changes will transform higher education. Building upon the college’s nearly five decades history of being a “College Without Walls,” this plan establishes a comprehensive framework to redefine the educational experience for both our diverse student body and our future workforce.
“I would like to extend my appreciation and admiration to the Strategic Alignment Committee’s leadership and expertise,” said President Kate Smith. “This strategic blueprint will serve as a guide to empower learners everywhere. It will ensure that the college continues to deliver profound economic and social value to the communities we serve.”
Aaron Coe, Rio Salado College's associate dean of Strategy & Academic Affairs, helped lead the Strategic Alignment Committee through the process of building the new strategic plan.
“Our vision of 'Excellence in Education for a Better World' is more than a statement— it's a commitment,” Coe said. “It guides every decision we make as we expand opportunities for students, strengthen our communities, and prepare the workforce that will shape tomorrow.”
At the forefront of strategic thinking is a commitment to developing student-ready solutions and to ensure the durability of our institution. Rio Salado’s plan is anchored by four high-level strategies:
- Strategy 1: Provide transformative learning opportunities in and beyond the classroom to empower every learner to succeed.
- Strategy 2: Advance a workforce education system that integrates academics, career attainment, and industry needs.
- Strategy 3: Deliver a future-ready educational environment powered by digital innovation to increase student success.
- Strategy 4: Invest in students, employees, and operations to strengthen institutional culture and meet community needs.
