To quote Charlie Chaplin: “A day without laughter is a day wasted.” Few things can lift spirits and galvanize a community like the shared joy of comedy. Laughing together is a beautiful thing, which is why we’re excited to announce that our faculty is putting on a comedy fundraiser on March 6: Laugh for a Cause.
Laugh for a Cause is an evening devoted to bringing the laughs while also bringing in funds to support the Jo C. Bennett Student Assistance Fund. The Jo C. Bennett Fund provides support to Rio Salado College students who need immediate financial assistance to help them overcome hardships in their life that may cause them to drop out of school.
Laugh for a Cause is happening at the Rio Salado Conference Center (2323 W. 14th St. Tempe) on Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m. This event is open to all members of the community; the subject matter is PG-13. There’s a suggested donation of $15 for entry.
Laugh for a Cause will feature performances by:
- Headliner Sandra Risser
- Toby Fox
- Kristin LaVanway
- Scott Sherman
- Lynda Vescio
About the headliner:
On Season 20 of America’s Got Talent, Sandra Risser received a “yes” from all 4 of the judges. She took first place in the Funniest Comedian in the Valley competition and second place in the World Series of Comedy in Little Rock AR. You can hear her on Sirius XM and will soon be able to hear her comedy special on Open Bar Comedy. As a 25 year veteran of comedy Sandra is funny, sexy (for her age) & irreverent. Audiences of all ages love her tales of growing up in the golden age of sex, drugs & rock 'n roll.
