The 2023 All-Arizona Academic Team Celebration takes place Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, from noon-2 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel in Tempe. The public is invited to attend the event virtually!
Student scholars from across Arizona’s community colleges will be honored for their outstanding achievements.
Rio Salado students Emma Harlow and Martha Salter are the college’s two All-Arizona recipients.
The All-Arizona Academic Team is part of the All-USA Scholarship competition sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa international honor society for two-year colleges.
To be eligible, students must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher (4.0 scale), be in good academic standing and demonstrate leadership skills and involvement in campus or community volunteerism.
Students selected to the All-Arizona Academic Team receive undergraduate tuition transfer scholarships toward pursuing their first bachelor’s degree at an Arizona university.
The event emcee is Ian Schwartz, morning meteorologist and reporter for KPHO-TV CBS 5 and KTVK-TV 3/AZFamily.com. Keynote speaker is Jacqueline Thao Nguyen, a 2017 graduate of Central Arizona College with an Associate’s degree in Business and a Certificate in Communication Studies. She is a 2020 graduate of Arizona State University, earning a Bachelor’s in Business Data Analytics and Business Sustainability. Nguyen currently owns and operates her first food and beverage store front in SanTan Valley and is active in her community.
