Educators can add the Special Education endorsement to their current Arizona teaching certificate by taking Rio Salado College's courses. Must possess a valid Arizona Standard Professional Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Grades, Secondary, Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired, Early Childhood Special Education, or Moderate/Severe Disabilities certificate. Must verify three years of teaching experience in PreK-Grade 12 before applying for the endorsement.

Step 2: Get Admitted to Maricopa Community Colleges
Applicants must complete the Maricopa Community Colleges application. Under the section "primary reason for attending this college," choose:
- "Take a class, not pursuing a degree/certification"
- Then select "EDU Endorsement"
Step 3: Apply for Enrollment
Applicants seeking endorsement coursework are considered Unclassified and must submit a Request to Enroll form in order to be granted permission to enroll in courses.

NOTE: Tuition costs vary. Tuition rates are established by the Maricopa County Community College District’s Governing Board. Refer to the tuition rates listed on the Rio Salado website for specific details related to differing tuition costs for residency rates and lower division(100/200 level)/upper division (300/400 level) coursework. Tuition is subject to change.
About 24 hours following acceptance of your Maricopa Community Colleges application, students will be able to complete the Request to Enroll application.
