Employee Engagement & Resource Center

The Employee Engagement & Resource Center at Rio Salado College offers programs and activities that seek to inspire, develop and engage Rio Salado employees.

Programs and activities are focused on:

Training and Development

  • Conducts online and in-person training throughout the year
  • Hosts Rio Wave, a three-day, in-person orientation for new employees that explores the college’s culture, teamwork, and future initiatives

Wellness

  • Onsite quiet rooms offer employees a place to decompress
  • Employees can register for the Fitness Center, sign-up to use the walking treadmill stations or take a group training or yoga class at the Tempe location
  • Eligible Rio Salado employees can participate in health screenings that help ensure health as a college-wide priority
  • The Tempe location Hohokam building features a Wellness Media room where employees can enjoy reading health, fitness and lifestyle magazines 

Employee Relations

  • Serves as a resource for supervisors and employees to talk about performance-related issues
  • Assists with mediation and coaching when employee relations issues arise

Employee Performance

  • Oversees the annual review process for employees and the probationary review process for new employees
  • Serves as a resource for supervisors and employees to consult about performance-related issues

Policy

  • Assists employees with Family Medical Leave (FMLA), American Disabilities Act accommodations (ADA) and other temporary leaves
  • Provides policy assistance regarding employee relations issues

Awards and Recognition

  • Awards and recognition programs that give employees peer recognition opportunities
  • Peer nominations for the annual President's Awards of Excellence
  • A Years Worked Luncheon recognizes employees who have worked for Maricopa County Community Colleges District for five-year milestones

Culture Building

  • Supports college-wide events that encourage employees to learn, grow and connect with peers.
  • Develops employee interdepartmental team-building activities
