Prison Education Program

In April 2025, Rio Salado qualified as a federally recognized Prison Education Program (PEP). Students at ASPC-Perryville can fill out a FAFSA and use these funds to pursue their education online at Perryville Prison.

Students are selected for the PEP program by Perryville Prison and must also meet these requirements/qualifications:

ADCRR Criteria

• GED or high school diploma on file with ADCRR
• Passed mandatory literacy
• No disciplinary violations

FAFSA Criteria

• Not in default with a previous student loan
• Must be able to complete at least first semester
• Apply for FAFSA and meet all FAFSA application requirements

FAFSA does not fund correspondence courses. All correspondence courses are funded by self-pay or through the IRE Scholarship Program. (See Correspondence Learning for more information).
