Pregnant and Parenting Students

Pregnant and Parenting Students

We're here to help you stay on track.

Rio Salado College is committed to helping students continue their education during pregnancy, after childbirth, and while navigating the early weeks of parenthood.

If you are pregnant or are within eight weeks after giving birth, you may be eligible for reasonable adjustments that help you access and participate in your educational program or college activities. Our goal is to work with you to identify solutions that support your academic success while meeting your individual needs.

Whether you need temporary flexibility due to pregnancy-related medical needs, recovery after childbirth, or access to lactation spaces, we're here to help you understand your options and connect you with the right resources.

Why should I let the college know?

Not every student will need adjustments, but if pregnancy or childbirth is affecting your ability to participate in classes or college activities, letting us know allows us to help.

By submitting a Pregnancy Adjustment Request, we can:

  • Help identify reasonable adjustments that support your continued success.
  • Work directly with your instructors so you don't have to navigate every conversation on your own.
  • Connect you with campus resources that may be helpful during your pregnancy or postpartum period.
  • Help ensure you receive the protections available under federal law and MCCCD policy.

Reporting your pregnancy does not automatically change your classes or academic requirements. It simply starts a conversation about how we can best support your individual circumstances.

Request Pregnancy-Related Support

If you believe pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition may affect your coursework or participation in college activities, follow these steps:

Step 1: Review the policy

Step 2: Submit a Pregnancy Adjustment Request
