Communication

Communication courses enable students to understand, analyze and respond to communication problems and opportunities. In an increasingly global job market, clear, effective oral and written communication skills can make a job candidate excel. Communication courses reveal how humans communicate within the workplace, in small groups, and with individuals. 

Our communication courses provide students with opportunities to learn ways to respond in varied communication contexts through hands-on applications. Developing skills in oral and written communications, business communications, and public speaking will help you compete in any career field. Rio Salado offers a broad range of communication courses, including interpersonal communication skills, business communication, intercultural, public speaking and small group communication. 

Textbooks

Most of our courses use low-cost textbooks or no cost material provided by your instructors.

Associate in Arts, Emphasis in Communication

The Associate of Arts (AA), Emphasis in Communication includes a dynamic blend of theory and practical experience that provides students with a solid introduction to the wide-ranging field of Communication. With an associate degree in Communication, students will gain proficiency in a variety of communication contexts including interpersonal, small group, intercultural, organizational, public and professional speaking. This degree prepares students for a bachelor’s degree transfer pathway and equips them with the communication skill set valued so highly by employers. Coursework provides the foundational conceptual knowledge and tools to understand, analyze, and respond to communication challenges and opportunities in a variety of contexts.

Rio Salado College does not currently offer all of the courses necessary to complete the Associate of Arts (AA), Emphasis in Communication. Students at any Maricopa Community College may need to complete courses at more than one of our colleges.
