Announcement: The program currently requires MNT225 which is under development and expected to be available for enrollment within the Summer II 2024 semester. Students may substitute the MNT225 course with MNT220 until the course is available.
This program also requires MNT235 which is under development and is expected to be available for enrollment within the Fall 2024 semester. Students may substitute the MNT235 course with MNT230 until the course is available.
The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Semiconductor Manufacturing program is designed for students seeking employment in semiconductor manufacturing. This certificate provides an intermediate understanding of the scientific principles and application of practical skills involved in the fabrication and characterization of semiconductors, microelectronic components, and photonic integrated circuits. Students will have opportunities to prepare for entry-level employment, career transition, or career advancement as operators or technicians in these fields. This certificate of completion may also prepare students to take industry certification credential exams in safety, fabrication, characterization, material properties and photonics.
Details
Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses within the program.
This pathway map will help you gain the expertise needed to:
- Practice safety standards and procedures commonly implemented within the fields of micro- and nanotechnology.
- Demonstrate ethical and professional behaviors and how they apply to career opportunities within the field of micro- and nanotechnology.
- Differentiate between basic micro- and nanotechnology fabrication processes.
- Demonstrate competence using characterization techniques and tools.
- Apply photonics principles by assembling, measuring, testing, or repairing optical components and photonic devices.
- Relate material properties to the characterization and fabrication processes.
Successful completion of this certificate may lead to employment in a variety of different occupations and industries. Below are examples of related occupations with associated Arizona-based wages* for this certificate. Education requirements vary for the occupations listed below, so you may need further education or degrees in order to qualify for some of these jobs and earn the related salaries. Course Sequence by Term
The following is the suggested course sequence by term. Please keep in mind:
- Students should meet with an academic advisor to develop an individual education plan that meets their academic and career goals. Use the Pathway Planner tool in your Student Center to manage your plan.
- The course sequence is laid out by suggested term and may be affected when students enter the program at different times of the year.
- Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and/or completion of 100-200 level course and/or program requirements.
- Degree and transfer seeking students may be required to successfully complete a MCCCD First Year Experience Course (FYE) within the first two semesters at a MCCCD College. Courses include FYE101 and FYE103. Course offerings will vary by college. See an academic, program, or faculty advisor for details.
