His extensive experience and expertise in the field of insurance made him a respected and sought-after educator. Students praised him for his deep understanding of the subject matter, his ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, and his thorough feedback and grading, said Dr. Lily Davidov, Faculty Chair/Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Real Estate, Risk Management & Insurance, and Small Business.

“Chris was the driving force behind Rio's insurance program, nurturing the minds and souls of his students with unwavering dedication,” Davidov said. “His students and colleagues held him in high regard, appreciating his amiable nature and easygoing demeanor. With an impeccable sense of humor, Chris effortlessly lightened the atmosphere, all while being a constant source of knowledge and guidance, providing answers whenever needed.”

Beyond his role at Rio Salado, Behymer made significant contributions to the insurance industry. He joined Markel in 2002 and held various leadership positions, including Director of Client Education and Vice President of Casualty Underwriting. He was widely recognized for his passion for developing and delivering continuing education courses on insurance, and his dedication to helping others learn about Markel and the industry.

Following his passing, tributes poured in from all corners of the industry, highlighting his invaluable contributions and the positive impact he had on countless lives. The insurance community mourns the loss of a remarkable mentor and friend, remembering him for his knowledge, passion, and dedication.

“Chris’s teachings and influence will continue to resonate. His legacy will live on through the minds he enlightened, the hearts he touched, and the countless individuals he inspired to pursue excellence in the insurance field,” Davidov said.

“Chris Behymer - and his many contributions - will be remembered by all those with whom he worked within the risk management/insurance industry and by those whose lives he enhanced through his classroom instruction and student engagement for so many years,” said Lamont D. Boyd, CPCU, AIM President, Arizona CPCU Society Chapter. “As an active and valuable member of the Arizona CPCU Society Chapter, Chris will be dearly missed by his many friends and colleagues throughout the CPCU Society.”
